NDT relies on technicians who have in-depth knowledge, skill, and utilize industry proven standards. NDT Academy training provides both the knowledge and qualifications that NDT personnel need to succeed in the field. Industry Certified instructors are available for Level I and Level II Training in MT, PT, UT, VT, and Film Interpretation. Trainees will gain knowledge that will not only allow them to pass their respective certification exam, but will also gain industry-specific knowledge to allow them to perform at exceptional levels.
Our Training Methods Are Very Simple Yet Most Effective
Ultrasonic Testing is utilized to determine a specimen’s wall thickness as well as internal discontinuities. In Ultrasonic (UT) Testing, a transducer pulsates ultrasonic waves into tested specimen at a frequency range of 0.5 to 25 Mhz. The time of flight of the ultrasonic waves is measured which is the amount of time the ultrasonic waves leave and reflect back to the transducer. Discrepancies are noted when there are fluctuations in ultrasonic wave reflections or echoes. Compressional wave and shear wave are used to assess the specimen in various aspects.
MT is accomplished by subjecting a ferromagnetic material to a magnetic field, then dusting the surface with iron particles. Particles can be sprayed in the dry or wet suspension form, with the lateral being visible or fluorescent. Surface and Sub-surface flaws disrupt the flow of the magnetic field within the part and force some of the field to leak out at the surface. Iron particles are attracted and concentrated at areas of discontinuities. This produces a visible indication of defect on the surface of the material.
PT is one of NDT methods that detects surface discontinuities. Specimen’s surface is sprayed, brushed or coated with visible or fluorescent dye. After a precise amount of time, excess dye is removed from the specimen’s surface, but is left in surface breaking discontinuities. A developer is then applied to draw the excess penetrant out of the defects. A penetrant bleed out is generally a sign of a surface indication.
VT is the oldest Non Destructive testing method, where the inspector uses his/her naked eyes to carry out the examination according to specific requirements. A flash light, magnifying glass, gauges and computer controlled cameras can be used to aid the inspector in completing his examination.
